How to Check NPS Account Balance

NPS stands for National Pension Scheme, which was introduced in 2004 by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It is managed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). 

Ways to Check Your NPS Account Balance?

There are two ways to check to NPS balance:

  1. Online method:

Step 1: Go to the CRA website, enter your PRAN number and password and Login into your NPS account.

Step 2: Select the ‘Transaction Statement’ button and click the ‘Holding Statement’ Button. It will display your accumulated NPS balance.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Transaction Statement’ button and that will generate the details of the transaction. 

  1. Application-based Method:

Step 1: Download the UMANG App

Step 2: Login using your ID and password

Step 3: Search NPS and enter Login Details to check your balance..

Subscribers can log into their NPS account through various channels:

  1. via NSDL
  • Visit the official portal of NSDL NPS. 
  • Click ‘Log in with PRAN/IPIN’ and proceed to the login screen.
  • Select ‘Reset Password’ to create a new password.
  • Give the details of PRAN, date of birth, new password, confirm password and captcha now click Submit.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Log in to your E-NPS account using PRAN and a newly created password. 
  1. via KFintech
  • Go to the official website of KFintech and click on the ‘Login’ button. Now choose the option of ‘Existing Subscriber’. 
  • Enter your PRAN number, password and captcha. 
  1. via Internet Banking
  • Banks offer e-NPS access using Internet banking.
  • Log in to your respective internet banking website and go to the NPS section.
  • There you can manage your NPS account, check the status, balance, transaction history etc.

How to Check NPS Balance Online via the NSDL Portal?

The following are the steps to check the NPS balance Online via the NSDL portal:

  • Visit the NSDL portal. and log in using your PRAN user ID and password.
  • Enter the captcha to proceed.
  • Now click on the ‘Holding Statement’ option under the ‘Transaction Statement section.
  •  Check the information on the total/available balance. 

How to Check the NPS Account Balance by Using the UMANG App?

The following are the steps to check the NPS account balance using the UMANG App:

  • Download the UMANG App and select NPS services.
  • Select the ‘Current Holding’ option and enter the Permanent Retirement Allotment Number (PRAN) and password.
  • Click on ‘Login’ to access the same. 

How to Obtain NPS Balance Information Through an SMS Facility?

From your registered mobile number give a missed call on the number ‘9212993399’. Your mobile number will receive an SMS with the information on the NPS account balance.
