National Savings Certificate (NSC)

NSCs are savings scheme issued by India Post that offer a certain fixed interest rate to the investor.


5-years maturity. The interest rate is 7.7% p.a. Interest compounded annually.

Who can Invest?

All Indian citizens can invest in NSC. Certificates can be purchased on behalf of a minor by their legal guardian.

Visit and request a National Saving Certificate application form at your nearest post office or bank branch.

How to Invest?

To invest, submit the required documents, pay the initial amount, i.e., between ₹1000 & in multiples, & you will receive the certificate.

Steps to Invest in  NSC Online

Open a bank or Post Office savings account. Complete your KYC. Invest in NSC via net-banking.

Tenure of Investment

Tenure is 5 years. However, If not withdrawn at maturity, you earn an interest rate equivalent to the Post Office Savings Scheme for the next  2 years.
