Aadhar no Longer a Valid Birth Proof for PF Account

EPFO Update

Aadhaar was removed as a valid document for correcting the date of birth by EPFO on 16th January 2023.

Certain beneficiaries were using Aadhaar as proof of date of birth, even though it's not recognised for that purpose.

Reason for This Change

The CPFC - Central Provident Fund Commissioner approved the decision. A previous UIDAI circular and court judgments also clarified that Aadhaar is not proof of birth.
